Dr. Hafsa Nawaz

Dr. Nawaz is redefining primary care by prioritizing personalized, human-centered healthcare in an era where many physicians are shifting toward larger group practices. As a solo practitioner, she is committed to providing individualized attention to each patient, ensuring that care is not just computerized, but truly compassionate.

A graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan (Class of 1998), Dr. Nawaz has been practicing medicine for almost 2 decades. She completed her residency at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, and is affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of Saint Raphael. She accepts a wide range of insurance plans, including Aetna, Medicare, Anthem, and Medicaid Husky.

Beyond her primary care practice, Dr. Nawaz has dedicated her career to serving underprivileged and underserved communities. She actively volunteers at local churches and women associations to provide education of the basic health concerns while mentoring aspiring medical students.

Her special interests include women’s health and geriatric care, and she is a Certified Medical Director (CMD), serving as Medical Director for multiple healthcare facilities throughout New Haven County.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Nawaz is an avid long-distance runner, having completed the Hartford Marathon (2010), the New Jersey Half Marathon (2011), and numerous other races. She is also passionate about healthy cooking and enjoys hiking, with adventures that include Mount Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, and Patagonia and Mount Everest Base camp.

Fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and some Arabic, Dr. Nawaz bridges language barriers to provide seamless care for a diverse patient community.

Kathrine Walker, APRN, FNP,  MSN
Kathrine "Katy" Walker, APRN, FNP,  MSN

With a deep-rooted passion for patient care, Kathrine Walker, APRN, FNP, MSN, known affectionately as Katy, has dedicated the past 20 years to serving patients across various healthcare settings. Her journey in medicine began in 2002 as a home health aide, where she discovered her calling to care for others. She advanced her career by becoming a Registered Nurse in 2005 and, in 2018, graduated with honors from Chamberlain School of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

One of the most defining moments of Katy’s career was receiving The DAISY Award, an honor she was nominated for by a grateful patient’s family—an acknowledgment of her compassion, dedication, and exceptional care.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Katy enjoys working with patients of all ages, guiding them through every stage of life.

"I want to be there for my patients when they need me most. That’s what I love about my job—I have the privilege of caring for them and their loved ones."

In her role as an APRN, Katy also has the ability to recommend and prescribe medical marijuana for patients with qualifying conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, HIV/AIDS, Glaucoma, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, and more.

Since January 2019, Katy has been a valued member of Star Medical Care, where she continues to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.

Our Primary Care Doctor offers Geriatric Care & Preventive Medicine


In addition to internal medicine and primary care, Dr. Nawaz practices geriatric care and preventive medicine. Senior citizens need to take particular care of their health, and Dr. Nawaz is here to help them every step of the way. She also very much believes in preventive medicine and, as your primary care doctor, she will do everything she can to detect potential health problems before they turn into major issues.
